I've been a fan of speculative fiction since childhood,. This site is all about my life as a fan. I'll be posting information about books I read, movies and TV shows I watch, and conventions I attend. I hope that others with similar interests will join me here.

StellarCon 33

We made it to StellarCon this year. We could only stay one day, but we both had a great time. I've posted some new pictures. Check out the image gallery.

I had the chance to talk to Lee Martindale during a slow time in the dealer's room. She is one of my favorite people. I love her writing, and I never pass up a chance to attend a panel she's in!

Speaking of her writing...I picked up two chapbooks from her, and just HAD to read them as soon as I got home. They were - Hell Hath No Fury... 5 bardic tales, and The Folly of Assumption, a collection of her fat-fantasies.

Blog delays

I always mean to blog about what I'm reading, but somehow it never happens. I'm going to try again. My particular reason for wanting to try again, is that the Hugo nominations have come out, and once again, I have a lot of reading to do, and to remember, if I'm going to be an educated Hugo voter this year. Of course, the first thing is to start collecting the books. I'm pretty good on the short fiction, but I will re-read all the stories before voting.

New Books, etc.

I haven't blogged about books I've purchased in a while, so here's what's new since the beginning of February, in no particular order.

We Never Talk About My Brother by Peter S. Beagle
Lace and Blade 2 edited by Deborah J. Ross
Death Masks by Jim Butcher
Forever War and Forever Peace by Joe Haldeman
The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan
The Engine of God by Jack McDevitt
Coyote Horizon and Galaxy Blues by Allen Steele

I did finish The Sharing Knife: Horizon pretty quickly, and I loved it!
